8th Graders Participate in Mock Interviews

On Friday, January 12th Franklin Middle School 8th graders were involved in a Mock Interview event with local business professionals. 

8th grade Language and Literature students write cover letters for entry level jobs potentially available to high school students.  During the unit, students use their resumes from 7th grade to help them construct cover letters for a job choice from one of the Career Pathways.  Once students have completed their cover letters, they review common interview questions and practice their interview skills.

Local Green Bay business professionals volunteer to help conduct Mock Interviews with selected 8th grade students.  Students are selected based on the quality and professionalism of the cover letters they have developed.  Students are scored on content and communication skills during the Mock Interviews.  The combination of real world experience with practical application of knowledge and skills learned in the classroom provide these students with an edge in becoming positive role models in our community.
