International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty began on October 17, 1987, in Paris, France, to honor the people living in extreme poverty. In 1993, the United Nations officially recognized October 17th as a day to renew our awareness of the needs across the world and to work together to eliminate extreme poverty.

Chess Club

Just a reminder that Chess Club will not meet today after school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences. The next Chess Club will be on Tuesday the 24th. Everyone is welcome so be sure to bring a friend.

Book Fair

Students, there are only 3 more days left of the Book Fair! It’s open during Parent/Teacher Conferences too.  Be sure to make any purchases you want by this Thursday, we only have the Book Fair here this one week!

Show Choir
Franklin Show Choir will be starting up again today. If you like to sing and dance to songs that are on the radio, this is the group for you. Because we have Parent Teacher Conferences tonight, this will be a quick organizational meeting that will run from 2:50-3:20. See you in room 180 at 2:50, and as always, see Mrs. Rego with any questions! 

Fall Social
The Halloween Social will be on October 26th from 3-5pm! There will be dancing, activities, a costume competition, and snacks. Buy tickets for $2, or two cans of food, during lunch starting Wednesday. Tickets are $3 on the 26th! Save money and buy early. You will need an ID to attend the dance. Don’t forget!

Student Council will be having a costume competition during the fall social on October 26th. Students are welcome to dress up in any costume that is appropriate for school during the social. Costume will not be allowed during the school day. Masks, weapons, painted faces, and costumes inappropriate for school will not be acceptable.

Also, ID cards will be on sale Wednesday, October 18th through Thursday, October 26th for $3.00 in the Main Office. If you will be purchasing tickets for, or attending the Social, you will need an ID card!

PBIS Tardy Challenge
Congratulations to 449 students who were completely tardy free the week of our PBIS incentive! Please help us congratulate the following 10 students who have won a prize! Jaden Batten, Nolan Berger, Emily Cooper-Holmes, Ashton Dolgner, Michael Garcia-Diaz, Juan Garza-Gomez, Phillip Ray, Wyatt Shazer, Olivia Waubanascum, and Jacy Xiong. Please stop up to room 308 after announcements to claim your prize! 

Red Ribbon Week
Join GSA and Student Council in celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23rd-26th. Each day will be a different drug free theme. Join us Monday in showing “I am awake to the dangers of drugs, just say no.” by wearing pajamas. “Tuesday Team up with us to be drug free” by wearing your favorite team jersey or clothing. During lunch, sign the pledge to be drug free. Wednesday, “Don’t get Mixed up with drugs” and show your best mismatching! On Thursday we will “Be our own heroes and say no to drugs” by dressing like a super hero. During lunch we will be making a healthy choice graffiti wall!

I Wish I Could Win..
The winners of the “I Wish I Could Win” drawing at the Book Fair were David Veasey and Zach Offield. Congratulations to David and Zach!
