International Mother Tongue Day (International Mother Language Day)
Today is International Mother Tongue Day (International Mother Language Day)! The United Nations recognizes, and celebrates this day, to honor all languages and the important role language has in maintaining cultural traditions throughout the world.

Did you know:
- that more than 50% of the approximately 7,000 languages spoken in the world are likely to die out within a few generations? 
- that 96% of these languages are spoken by a mere 4% of the world's population.
- that only a few hundred languages are genuinely used in the education systems and the public domain?
- that less than 100 languages are used in the digital world?

Chess Club
Chess has been rescheduled for Wednesday. Yes, tomorrow after school in room 202. Bring a friend, play chess and of course, enjoy some hot pizza.

Supplies Needed
One of our IB groups is making chew toys for the Humane Society. They are in need of materials to make their toys. Preferably denim would be best but if you have anything that would be tough enough for chew toys we will take it. Please bring any old jeans or material to Room 310. Thank you!

Wrestling
Last night our Franklin wrestling team had a meet against Lombardi and Washington. Wrestlers who won multiple matches include: Luis Quinones with two dominating victories of 6-0 and 16-0, Desiree Mixon with two wins by scores of 11-2 and 4-2, and Issac Wery with two wins and scores of 5-2 and 15-0. Fernando Sanabria-Nieves won his match by a score of 7-0. DAndre Mixon won 9-2, and Exzavion Shepard won 6-4. All wrestlers showed great team spirit, and made Franklin proud. Nice job everyone. Our next wrestling meet will be next Tuesday at Bay View Middle school.
