Juneteenth Day
Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates the freedom of the slaves in the United States. The name Juneteenth is a combination of the words June and nineteenth. It is celebrated on June 19th of every year. The day is also called Emancipation Day and Freedom Day. The day is celebrated in the United States mostly by African Americans, especially in the state of Texas, as an official holiday or observance. There are parades, marches, and barbecues, ceremonies for public service awards, prayer, and the raising of the Juneteenth Flag. It is half red and half blue with a star in the middle.
